  • The next morning we loaded into a bus for the two hour trek to Puntarenas where the Okeanos Aggressor was docked. Along the way we stopped for lunch at an interesting place that offered some landscape art.

  • We arrived in Puntarenas to board the Okeanos Aggressor.
  • Thirty-six hours later we were tied to a mooring ball at Chatham Bay, Cocos Island. This is a view of Manuelita Island where we enjoyed some of our best diving.
  • It was the rainy season in Costa Rica and we did not have many spectacular sunsets but it was paradise....
  • Rainy season, Cocos Island, Costa Rica.
  • One afternoon we had a full rainbow. Here's Jessica staring at a pot of gold.
  • We didn't dive off the back of the dive platform rather our equipment was moved to a "panga" (a skiff or more literally a Zodiac hard bottom inflatable boat).
  • This is our dive master, Carlos, and the panga captain, Marvin.
  • It was obvious from our first "checkout" dive that the sharks were everywhere. Mostly whitetips.
  • There was also an abundance of Marble rays.
  • There were large Moray eels on every dive. This is an Yellow-edged Moray.
  • There was a reasonable showing of turtles.
  • Whitetip reef shark
  • Down about 115 feet, the water was clear, the current was strong, and the finespotted moray was just cruising out in the open.
